I went to the Durham Arts Council CenterFest! celebration at the Farmer’s Market on Saturday and, in addition to seeing some beautiful arts and crafts (hand carved wooden flutes made me drool,) I met some of the wonderful people who serve children in our city — people from Urban Ministries who provide services to homeless families with children, the women who work with teens in foster care at Durham Social Services and the great people who provide opportunities to mentor at risk teens. If all these dedicated hearts, minds and hard working bodies receive one-tenth of the goodness they give out, then our city will soon be a haven of plenty for all.
Several more acting students signed up for DFT fall classes over the weekend, bringing us nearer the numbers we need to start having fun with classes on October 12th. Be sure to keep spreading the word.
