(From Ms. Jenny’s summer acting camp 2006, Aladdin)

Things are heating up around here – both the weather and the plans for our DFT Summer Performance Camps 2011. Over the weekend I met with our first Teen Intern for the July 18 – Aug 9 Young People’s Performance Camp – Francesca – at Francesca’s Cafe (it seemed like the right meeting place given our intern’s name.) Over fabulous sorbets (mango & lemon) we plotted out acting games, made lists of morning warm-up games like Wax Museum and brainstormed scripts that will entertain audiences and be accessible to our students aged 6 – 11 years. Francesca has a great deal of acting experience to bring to our students – and is in the advanced acting class at her school where she’s currently rehearsing for a performance of Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Later in the summer we’re going to be joined by another teen intern from New York City. Since we now have two teen interns for the young people’s camp, I’ve decided to extend the participation level – giving us 5 MORE REGISTRATION SLOTS FOR STUDENTS AGED 6 – 11! Sign up NOW! It’s going to be tremendous fun.

And a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE TEEN CAMP TOO! I’ve been reviewing scripts for the teens over the past several weeks and have decided we will be rehearsing and performing a MURDER MYSTERY! I’m still deciding on the final script selection – and have several fantastically murderous, some hysterically funny, plays to choose from once I know for certain how many students are signing up. If you are thinking of taking the Teen Performance Camp (June 20 – July 6) DON’T DELAY – Sign up now and get ready for the thriller of a lifetime!

See you soon, Jenny
