King & Queen of Hearts in "Alice," DFT 2011

TEEN & ADULT ACTORS/SINGERS ARE GREATLY ENCOURAGED TO JOIN THE FUN OF PERFORMING SOME OF THE WORLD’S MOST BELOVED CHARACTERS WITH MUSIC BY A.A. MILNE’S CHOSEN COMPOSER.

I’m excited to see who will join us on Monday, Jan. 9th for our second night of auditions, 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm at Central Park School for Children, 724 Foster Street, downtown Durham, NC. Bring 1-minute of a song and a great love for Winnie-the-Pooh.

Dormouse "Alice" DFT 2011

We had a busy first day of auditions today with 18 young actors and singers showing up to try out for a role in “The House at Pooh Corner, a musical expotition.” Along with talented new faces, we had the pleasure of greeting old friends –

Dee & Dum, "Alice" DFT 2011

The Dormouse from “Alice” was there along with Tweedledee, though it was Tweedledee’s younger sister who auditioned this time – as did Alice’s younger sister who had played a role during our 2011 summer performance camps. And our intrepid Alice teen assistant director unveiled her lovely singing voice.

Our musical director, the talented Joy Harrell, proved adept at helping voices reveal their greatest strengths and most patient with first time auditioners. It was thrilling to hear voices start out timid and fuzzy, then quickly become powerful and clear. Everyone was applauded and everyone left smiling – having achieved their best.

See you soon, Jenny

  1. It’s so cool to read that the DFT is about a positive growing/learning experience for all. I look forward to my children being involved in some way. I hope:).
